Iconic Video Game Characters to Cosplay

If you’re a gamer, chances are you’ve got a favorite video game character. And if that character happens to be from an iconic game, then why not cosplay as them? As Halloween is just over a month away, it’s time to get on top of making those costumes if you want to be ready. To help all you cosplayers and gamers prep for this important holiday, here are our top picks for iconic video game characters to cosplay.

Kylo Ren & Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)

You’re probably ready to cosplay as one of the main characters in the new Star Wars movies, but you’re not sure who to choose. Kylo Ren and Obi-Wan Kenobi are both prominent, important characters in their own rights. Plus, they can both be dressed up for Halloween or other costume parties due to the popularity of the Star Wars franchise.

Kylo Ren is one of the most important villains in The Force Awakens, along with Supreme Leader Snoke (who doesn’t even appear until later on). He’s also the series’ first lightsaber-wielding villain since Darth Maul was killed off by Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999’s The Phantom Menace.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is an iconic Jedi master who was trained by Yoda himself. He played an important role during his time as Anakin Skywalker’s mentor before becoming involved with Luke Skywalker during Return Of The Jedi when he helped bring balance back into our galaxy once again. Do we even need to mention the new series Obi-Wan Kenobi? We think not.

Mario & Princess Peach (Mario Bros)

The most iconic video game characters of all time, Mario and Princess Peach are the perfect costumes to wear together. Mario is the main character in the Mario Bros series and is known for his iconic look as a plumber. He wears red overalls with a blue shirt underneath that has white buttons on it. His signature hat features his M symbol on it.

Princess Peach is known for being the damsel in distress in the Mario Bros video game franchise. She wears an elegant pink dress with yellow trimming around her neckline, sleeves, and bottom hem of her skirt area. Not only that, but Princess Peach also has her own castle just for art!

Alice & T-virus Mutant (Resident Evil)

Alice is a character from the Resident Evil film series. She is infected with the T-virus but has not mutated like everyone else. While Alice is not the main character in the video game franchise (In fact, she’s never appeared once!), thanks to Milla Jovovich’s portrayal of this character in the Resident Evil film franchise this is a cosplay that is seen every year among cosplayers. In this costume pair, there are two options to go with: one being a T-virus mutant, and the other being Alice herself though she’s not in the video games.

It’s very popular to cosplay both characters, but to become a T-Virus mutant? The recommended materials are pool noodles, bubble wrap, copious amounts of red and black paint, and facial prosthetics combined. Don’t scare yourself! However, scaring other people is one of the main points of creating and wearing this cosplay. To cosplay Alice? Think if Lara Croft met Mad Max in the Call of Duty universe and boom! You just cosplayed Alice from the Resident Evil series.

Pac-Man & Ms. Pac-Man (Pac-Man)

Pac-Man is the most iconic character in video game history, and for good reason. It’s no secret that Pac-Man has been around since 1980—it was one of the first games to popularize arcade games. The characters in this game are simple and easy to dress as.

This is a popular cosplay. Not only for individuals but for couples as well. There are countless people who’ve gotten married at conventions or even just attended simple character demonstrations at events that decided to tie the knot. Who says cosplay can’t make people spontaneous when it comes to personalities and love?

To dress as these iconic characters, I have two pieces of advice: yellow circles and black triangles. Those two shapes are the epitome of an iconic Pac-Man costume. To make it a Ms. Pac-Man costume? Add lips and a bow. Congratulations! You just cosplayed two of the most iconic video game characters ever created.

Geralt of Rivia & Yennefer of Vengerberg (The Witcher)

Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg are two of the most popular characters from The Witcher video game series. While Geralt is a man and magic-made mutant known as a Witcher created to defeat monsters, Yennefer is a sorceress with phenomenal magical abilities and a desire to become important to someone. While Geralt is known for his signature white hair, yellow eyes, and mutations as a Witcher, Yennefer is known for her striking purple eyes, fiery personality, and magical prowess.

They both use magic, Yennefer as a habit and profession, and Geralt as a mutant created with magic and using magic to fight monsters in a world where these services are highly paid and lucrative. As Yennefer is a quarter-elven, her magical abilities are superior to that of her fellow mages, whereas Geralt can use magic in the form of Witcher signs plus his enhanced Witcher abilities through the use of potions and elixirs.

Guardian Soraka & Sivir (League of Legends)

These two characters are among the most popular and iconic in their respective franchises, making them excellent choices for cosplayers. As one of the most powerful healers in League of Legends (LoL), Guardian Soraka is a great choice for someone who wants to go all-out on their cosplay. She has some of the most intense healing powers ever encountered in LoL and can be a formidable foe. With her staff and stargazer’s cap worn on top of her flowing hair, she looks like an angelic figure with a mysterious background.

If you have seen any gameplay videos from professional players or tournaments then you have likely seen this character at work before! Sivir is another iconic character who makes it onto our list because she is so memorable among League players that many people would be able to recognize this character even if she was wearing nothing but black leather pants and boots during all public appearances (which she probably isn’t).

Master Chief & Cortana (Halo)

Cortana and Master Chief are a couple that everyone can get behind. She’s artificial intelligence, but she’s also deeply integrated into the story of Halo, as a trusted companion to Master Chief. In fact, she’s one of the few characters who has been present for every single game released in the series (including a cameo appearance she had in Halo 3: ODST).

In many ways, this relationship is an example of what can happen when two people are forced together in close quarters for long periods of time. They’ve killed aliens together and saved humanity from destruction on multiple occasions; Cortana’s knowledge about humans makes her able to better understand how to relate with them and their emotions—something that would come in handy if you ever cosplayed her!

Link & Princess Zelda (The Legend of Zelda)

Zelda and Link are the main characters in The Legend of Zelda franchise. The two are often portrayed as a couple, but it doesn’t always have to be that way if you choose not to include a romance aspect in your cosplay!

Link is a young boy who is the hero of Hyrule, the kingdom that needs saving. He’s often seen wielding his trusty sword and shield while wearing green clothes with red shoes. To really embody Link, remember to act like a normal person who just got thrust into the adventure of a lifetime. This is literally Link to the core.

Zelda is the princess of Hyrule and she’s usually portrayed as wearing blue or purple clothes along with an ornate headpiece/crown on her head. Despite the video game franchise being called The Legend of Zelda, Princess Zelda is not the hero of the video games.
